A mobile planetarium show is precisely what it sounds like. It is a real, full-size planetarium, which can come to you. It has features like the ones you find in the National Space Centre in Leicester or The Peter Harrison Planetarium in Greenwich Park, London (part of the National Maritime Museum).
The Wonderdome planetariums are spherical constructions where we offer presenter-led planetarium shows with Fulldome/360 films experience . The audience can fly through planets and galaxies, look at life onboard the space station, as well as do some stargazing and constellations spotting even on a very cloudy day.
Of course, Wonderdome mobile planetariums are portable, so there are some differences to the stationary option, for example, we make use of the floor space. However, because Wonderdome planetarium is a mobile option, we can offer much more personalised sessions. Planetarium shows’ visitors will get more than just a film; you will also get input and guidance from our experienced and knowledgeable astronomy presenters. Our presenters will guide you through the sessions with their live commentary and invite members of the audience planetarium shows to ask them related questions.
To book Wonderdome planetarium shows all you need to email us or use the booking form to leave your request. We will get in touch to arrange for our inflatable mobile planetarium to come to the venue of your choice. The site can be a school or church hall. We also visited museums – Bradford Science Museum and Derby Museum where we had the privilege to bring our mobile dome. Also to a weather-proof marque at a farm – Matlock Fam.
Our mobile planetariums come in different sizes, and we can deliver the planetarium shows in most places. The height of the venue for the smaller mobile planetarium, which can accommodate up to 25 children can be a low as 3 meters and fit an area of around 25 sq.m. The larger dome is 4 meters’ height, and up to 35 children can visit the planetarium show at one time.
If necessary, we can provide you with copies of risk assessment, lesson plans (link to the lesson plan page), activities package and/or a pro-forma invoice. All our presenters have several years of experience in delivering planetarium shows to a range of audience – from nursery and special needs pupils to secondary school learners and astronomy enthusiast. We are also fully insured and all our presenters have DBS checks.
