You may also be interested to visit other places of astronomical interest in this area. Please find below a couple of links:

Astronomical Society of Greenwich

The Astronomical Society of Greenwich, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 association of amateur astronomers that began in affiliation with The Bruce Museum in Greenwich CT to advance awareness and understanding of the science of astronomy for area residents and K-12 local students, though the following programs:

  • Community educational outreach programs
  • The Bowman Observatory in Greenwich
  • Host lectures, workshops and other programs at our monthly meetings, all of which are open to the public.

West of London Astronomical Society

The society was founded in 1967 and has a membership mostly drawn from a wide area of the western side of London. As well as their monthly meetings, they have regular observing sessions at a site near High Wycombe, where skies are darker, and every year we organise an observing weekend to a truly dark sky site such as mid-Wales or the West Country.

West of London Astronomical Society meet every month except August, alternately at two venues in Harrow and Hillingdon boroughs, so we cover a wide area of the west of London area.

You definitely don’t need to be an advanced amateur to join, as they try to keep meetings at a level which anyone with a general interest in astronomy can follow. Probably the majority of our membership consists of people just like you – interested but not obsessed!
