Our Wales mobile planetarium has been captivating pupils & groups in and around the area for more than 10 years. We’ve visited and inspired thousands of pupils in Primary, Secondary, Special Needs schools and local activity groups.

Abergavenny Astronomy Society 

The Abergavenny Astronomy Society held its inaugural meeting on 8th November 2010 and was officially formed in February 2011.  The society holds monthly meetings with guest speakers.  Talks have included  Impacts from Comets and Asteroids, Stellar Types, Lunar Observing, Radio Astronomy, Multiverse or Universe?, The Celtic Sky, History of Astronomy, Saturn and Her Moons, String Theory, The Herschel and Planck missions, Mars, Joseph Harris (18th c astronomer), X Ray Binaries and Early Modern Comets. 

The AAS holds workshops on Telescopes and Observing the Night Sky to help new observers.   The society supports the Brecon Beacons Dark Sky Reserve. 

All AAS Meetings are open to the public.  Regular meetings held on the last Monday of each month at 7:30pm in the The Hen and Chickens, Flannel Street, Abergavenny.  See the “Home” or “Meetings” page for details.
